The ONLY Good Thing About February...

I was reminded over the weekend of the ONLY good thing about February - it is typically when my Lenten Roses start to bloom.  It comes at the perfect time, when I am absolutely longing to see green and blooming things!

I've made a couple more discoveries in my quest to make less trash.  One is these recyclable coffee pods made by beaniac.  They are also made of sustainably farmed coffee, and taste really good!

Another is these wool dryer balls.  They eliminate the need for dryer sheets (not compostable and full of chemicals 😝) AND are supposed to help things dry faster, thus using less electricity.  Win-Win!  I was a bit skeptical, but my laundry has NOT had any static.  I kinda miss the smell of Bounce, but I'll get over it!

L was the next in the family to succumb to COVID, despite being triple vaccinated.  She had a sore throat, headache and was definitely feeling sick for a couple of days, but again, this was very mild.  She is back to normal and back to school now.

We spent another 20 hours without power last week due to wind and downed trees.  Besides that, not much else is happening around here.

Spring will be here SOON!

More Winter...

It seems that the winter weather forecasts this year have been slightly underestimating our precipitation.  We are getting the maximum snow forecast or maybe a bit more!

Both of the girls had classes cancelled Thursday and Friday, although L had "remote learning."  They are typically getting twice the amount of snow/ice in Youngstown as we are getting here.  Luckily, J came home on Wed, so had a nice, long weekend at home.

The ice bent over my butterfly bushes, but otherwise looked GORGEOUS!

We did not lose power with the storms (thank goodness) but stayed in for the most part.  Part of that is due to the fact that I have a stress fracture in my foot (the "good" one.)  I have to wear this walking boot for 10 weeks, and it makes shoveling snow difficult.  Only 9 more weeks to go...

I got a couple more puzzles finished over the past couple of weeks:

I got both of these at thrift stores, the bottom one
unfortunately, is missing a piece

JP got me some really fun new bowls for my birthday - they are all coordinating colors and patterns.  There are pasta bowls...

...and dessert (or cereal) bowls.  Aren't they cute?

I hope you are all staying sane and warm!
