Free at Last!

L lost another tooth yesterday evening.  She put it in the Tooth Fairy pillow right away, and didn't mention it at bedtime.  When I woke the girls this morning, she got an anguished look on her face and said, "She didn't come!  The Tooth Fairy didn't come!"  Apparently, Ms. Fairy was hiding under the bed, having gotten in to Pennsylvania much later than expected because of all of the lost teeth elsewhere in the country.  Luckily she left a note explaining this, along with an extra $1 coin while we were all away this morning!

The girls finished up school this morning, and ran head first into Summer Vacation.  They got off the bus at our friends' house, where the front yard and driveway was decorated with signs, balloons and streamers.  They also supplied water balloons, water squirters and snacks.  The kids rushed through the crepe paper finish line, right into a water battle of major proportions.  2 hours later, everyone was soaked through and famished.

After a quick lunch and change of clothes, L set off to a friend's house for a Birthday party, and the older 2 (J and friend, C) and I went out summer clothes shopping.  We accomplished that, and were home by 4.  The girls also had time to try out the mattresses and hide in shelves behind the comforters at Kohl's.

Once home, I headed to the garden to harvest veggies.  I was dismayed to find that the deer had *somehow* gotten in (again), and munched off most of 2 beds of beans, about a third of the strawberries, and some peas.  I harvested a basket of peas, strawberries and lettuce, then walked the fence, shoring up low spots, and wrapping things with tape from old videos (trying to make it look more ominous.)  I hope it does the trick, because it is very discouraging to think that all of the work we've done in there so far will be undone!

All 3 girls are sleeping peacefully downstairs, having been stuffed with tacos, showered and read to from "The Long Winter."  Tomorrow I have promised a trip to the city.  I am already exhausted thinking of keeping up with everyone for an entire summer!  I wonder if I can talk them out of it?
